Newark Mayor Corey Booker recently made headlines with his offer of $1000 to any resident of America's ghetto who turns in neighbors, friends, relatives or fellow gang bangers for possession of firearms, effectively creating a veritable army of prospective citizen spies in one of the most poverty plagued and unemployed cities in the US. This of course is in keeping with a Department of Homeland Security program initiated by Bis Sis Janet Napolitano urging all Americans to become human intelligence eyes and ears on the ground in the already incredible matrix of government surveillance activities underway in the burgeoning national security state complex. Booker's somewhat desperate political gambit has some ironical and distinctly racial overtones that seem to suggest that the right to bear arms as expressed in the Second Amendment somehow applies less to certain racial and economic demographies than others. The direct implication is that the black populace of Newark is a largely criminal class whose access to firearms poses not only a threat to themselves but possibly, in light of the growing potential for social anarchy and civil chaos, might represent an even more meaningful threat to the larger, i.e., white society. At any rate there is a certain readily recognizable segment of a distinctly different demographic of this society which would more than welcome the more limited access to firearms for the citizens of Newark as well as many other black enclaves mostly of course "for their own good". And of course in the extremely desperate financial straits experienced by the large majority of inner city blacks, $1000, especially for somebody else's gun is an offer too good to refuse.
At the same time, as the growing scandal over Attorney General Eric Holder's covert Fast and Furious program has spawned a congressional investigation concerning government and ATF involvement in gun trafficking in Mexico, it has been revealed that the "State Department approved sales of 18,709 weapons to Mexico" in 2009 amounting to "almost 10 times the number sold to illegal straw buyers in Fast and Furious, and more guns than the US sold to either Afghanistan or Iraq... in direct commercial sales to the government of Mexico...many of which were diverted to violent cartels". http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/12/15/as-predicted-fast-and-furious-scandal-gives-rise-to-gun-regulation-debate/
The transparent and ludicrous scheme of engaging in illegal international gun running operations, arming foreign drug cartels resulting in the deaths of many hundreds of Mexicans and at least one US law enforcement agent, the subversion of a sovereign nation and the domestic territorial borders, all the while attempting to "regulate" gun sales and purchases of the American citizenry exhibits, at the very least, presents the incredible spectacle of organized criminal racketeering at the highest levels of government with the obvious aim of engineering nothing short of the destruction of established law, the Constitution and the very nation itself.
Holder's response to scathing criticism regarding his role in this conspiracy is instructive. In a December 17 New York Times interview he suggested

Meanwhile Barack Obama cozied up to his Pentagon masters by taking an unprecedented trip across the Potomac to supposedly deliver proposals in the Pentagon briefing room intended to cut costs from the paranormally bloated Department of Defense budget by eliminating armed forces personnel as well as cutting health care and pension benefits. These the drastic diminutions were apparently necessitated by a spending spree on the other side of the ledger by expenditures on multi billions of dollars of investment in "cutting edge weaponry and cyberspace capabilities". The putative president took great pains to explain that such policies reflected the "guidance that he personally gave" throughout the process of drafting the budget lest of course anyone suspect that he was just following directives emanating from some other quarter than the executive branch.
Of course this is in keeping with the long established government policy of consigning its active duty personnel and veterans to the status of chattel slavery to be employed as cannon fodder and then conveniently disposed as damaged remnants in highly dysfunctional Veterans Administration Hospitals, condemned to lives ending in disproportionate levels of suicide, drug addiction and alcoholism, or simply added to the steadily increasingly homeless roaming the streets or seeking refuge under the bridges of America's increasingly blighted urban landscapes. As if this wasn't enough to convince one of the military's shameless treatment of its fighting forces it was recently revealed that the remains of deceased veterans have been for many years discarded in a local Virginia landfill not far form the Dover Air Force Base mortuary. http://rt.com/usa/news/military-dover-remains-landfill-395/
The impassive mien of the former Nobel Peace Prize laureate and de facto world manager seems to suggest an otherworldly detachment characteristic of one far removed from the cares, worries and concerns of the ordinary folk who inhabit the real world. Indeed Obama seems already prematurely translated into the wax dummy which is destined to inhabit Madame Tussauds museum in some inalterable and frozen gesture.
Unfortunately for all of us the policies of the Obama administration have very real and devastating effects not the least of which are the terrible consequences of endless war which have made life a living hell for countless millions across the globe. The following video picked up from our friend George at Of Goats and Men is a searing indictment not only of the genocidal war crimes committed in the name of the American people against the mostly innocent civilians of the Middle East and North Africa, but also against the men and women of this nation who felt compelled to take up arms in the "defense" of their country only to find themselves unwitting agents in the horrendous atrocities proscribed by the Nuremburg Convention, in obvious and flagrant violation of every code of the Geneva Convention and the rules of engagement of the US military itself.
